Joey Reynolds

The Royal Order of the Night People...
burning the exalted purple candle so the wax would melt and seal the radio dial to WKBW!

Joey Reynolds (Joseph Pinto) was a Seneca Street, south Buffalo boy who became a rock radio superstar DJ at WKBW in the early 1960s. He is acknowledge as radio's first "shock  jock" years before the term was coined. Never to shy away from making comments that made other cringe, Reynolds created many headaches for program directors. Teaming up with fellow WKBW DJ  Dan Neaverth, they recorded several songs such as "Rats In My Room" and "Underwater Surfer." Somehow they never reached the national charts! Years later when Reynolds was out of the Buffalo area he personally re-released "Rats In My Room" and Neaverth had to resort to a legal letter requiring Reynolds to "cease and desist." Time, hopefully has healed any wounds from that event.

Joey was fired from WKBW in the mid-60s for failing to show up on WKBW-TV's annual benefit telethon for Children's Hospital. He reportedly nailed a pair of shoes to the program director's door with a note saying "Fill these..." Reynolds later was successful  in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia as a radio jock, TV personality and producer. Joey can be currently heard on WWKB in Buffalo. Reynolds goes coast to coast with a satellite based nightly program (12-6 am) from New York's WOR Radio. His radio shows sparkle with a rare and wonderfully sharp, spontaneous wit that made him, then and now, one of the greatest personalities in radio.

Reynolds was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio for his accomplishments in radio, television, and music.
