Las Vegas, 2001

We had a great time visiting all the casinos on the north-end of the Strip.
With an unexpected extended visit of 10 days will still didn't see it all nor were we able to gamble or dine at all the casinos! It is amazing to see how many changes were made over the last two years!

Scenes at the Venetian

Towering over the Strip!  Canals within the hotel!  Strolling and singing!  Waiting for our gondola ride!

What an interesting place to visit. Actual water canals flow through the Venetian. If you are lucky, the lines are not too long to enjoy a pleasant gondola ride complete with a singing gondolier! All the scenes above are inside the massive complex.

Pool area at the Flamingo
(14 acres of lush vegetation)

That waterfall hurts!  Pool party here each evening!  Water slides between pools!

You can do laps if you want to (?)  98 degrees and rising!

I believe the pool water is refrigerated! With daily air temperatures from 95 to 100 degrees..the water seemed like ice! No way could the water be that cold without assistance from the Flamingo! They also have a great "pool party" each evening from 5 - 11 PM. Hot dogs, hamburgers and steak/mushroom kabobs for under five dollars! Two for one drink specials and a fantastic sound system... just perfect for a couple of "oldies" dances! The multi-level pools are connected by small water slides. We enjoyed the beautiful waterfalls and hundreds of palm trees, some within the pools themselves! With the soft music playing in the background and warm sunshine you would think that you were on a quiet tropical island hideaway! "Cocktails?....Cocktails?..."
